Hello students! I'm so, so, so sorry I wasn't able to teach you yesterday but I head good reasons for it. I'll tell you when the time is right.

Today we are going to talk about the Hippogriff!

A Hippogriff (also spelled Hippogryph and Hippogryphe) is a legendary creature, supposedly the offspring of a griffin and a mare.

Thomas Bulfinch ever said: "Like a griffin, it has the head of an eagle, claws armed with talons, and wings covered with feathers, the rest of its body being that of a horse. This strange animal is called a Hippogriff."

Griffins and horses were supposed to be mortal enemies. The Hippogriff symbolizes an impossible thing. There is an old expression "Jungentur jam grypes equis" which means "To cross griffons with horses", indicating an impossible scenario. The hippogriff was a symbol of impossibility and love.

So... If you know that, you also know that Hippogriffs eat meat. They are beautifull but they stay dangerous.

Very good Joan!
You aproach it slowly, keep eyecontact, bow and wait till it bows to you too! When it bows, you can touch it. When it doesn't, walk backwards slowly, because the hippogriff might attack you. On Hogwarts, we have about 12 Hippogriffs.

alright... now for homework against next week I want you to look up some things about Hippogriffs in art and popular culture. You take two things (That can be: in what movies do they show Hippogriffs, who has written about it ect. and tell me also something about it. you tell me what role the Hippogriff has, when it shows up and what does it mean. (that is not in everything you pick)

I don't care how mutch it is but I only take a look at the content. If you have any questions: I'm in my office or send me a pm Smile
