Astrology 2nd week
I walked into the classroom and saw that no one was there, but I was early. I was exhausted from planning the lesson last night and then cleaning my office this morning since it got trashed. I wrote on the board Constellations
Then I sat at my desk, put my head down and waited for the students to arrive.

I looked up as I heard someone come in and saw Elizabeth. "Hello. Today we will be learning about constellations. Do you know anything about them?"

"That's correct and they are divided into 8 constellation families:
1) The Ursa Major Family
2) The Zodiacal Family
3) The Perseus Family
4) The Hercules Family
5) The Orion Family
6) The Heavenly Waters
7) The Bayer Group
8.) The La Caille Family
The most common constellation is the big dipper which is actually a asterism, not a constellation. An asterism are sub- or supersets of constellations which build a constellation itself, or a group of stars, physically related or not. Best known is the Big Dipper as a part of the Great Bear. But there are more than just this one.

I smiled. "Now because of the rotation of the Earth and its orbit around the Sun, we divide the constellations into two groups. Some constellations never rise nor set, and they are called circumpolar. All the rest are divided into seasonal constellations which you can only see during certain seasons."

"For homework I want you to pick one constellation and explain a little about it. What it is, where it is in the sky and when you can see it and anything else you would like to add. It is due Sunday."
